The volunteers in the Operations Team look after the Scout Centre and provide the administration for the Group so that the Leaders can concentrate on the activities for the young people. There is always a warm welcome awaiting fresh volunteers willing to give up a couple of hours a month.
One of the main roles of the Operations Team is Fundraising.
The Scout Group is a very expensive operation to keep running and without our Fundraising activities, subscriptions for our young people would be so high that many could not afford to attend.
We have a number of regular fundraising activities which include:
- 3 Jumble Sales each year. Run jointly with the Copthorne Girlguiding units in March, June and October.
- Stalls at the Village Carnival in June – Plate smashing, Coconut Shy, Popcorn and Candy Floss.
- Annual Family Bonfire & Firework Display in November.
- Autumn Fair or Christmas Market
All of these need lots of bodies – so why not have some fun and help. Volunteers are always welcome.
